I don't like these bio things. I'm not going to write about myself in third person and would feel weird asking someone else to write about me. I know this probably doesn't come off as professional or formal enough for a composer's website? what a relief! I'm a composer, not a publicist!
So thanks for checking out my site and my work. I'm a very sensitive guy and my forte is creating the right music for what is going on in a scene? emotionally, structurally, and thematically. I love what I do and the people I work for get what they want because I never give up trying to get it right. I have the utmost respect for directors and film-makers and though I like to offer my initial reactions and ideas first to give a fresh perspective, I always defer to the director's vision and guidance. Scoring to picture is a marriage of the two art forms I am most passionate about. When I was a senior in high school I decided to go to the NYU summer film-making program to help me decide which career I would pursue: music or film? I quickly realized that making films was not for me. Too much interaction, organization and politics with too many people and locations. I knew then that I wanted to be at home, making music, and still enjoying the wonders of cinema... alone. So I studied music composition and film scoring at Brown and Columbia and was busy scoring for TV pretty soon after graduation, and that's what I've been doing since. I am also a singer/songwriter in the folk/rock vein and my album "Just a Tourist Here" is available to check out at my other website which I'll link to below... So write an email or give me a call if you want to chat about working together. I am always happy to score a scene, or come up with a theme for no fee so you can get a feel for what I might bring to your project. It's my pleasure... Sincerely, Jacob click here to check out "Just a Tourist Here" |
